Episode 11, Page #1 - "I Feel Your Stress"

Aoi Notes: 03/26/2008
Been a busy week so far around the Seven Seas offices. We've been rushing to get Afro Samurai all wrapped up, which has been a bit of a headache. I've also got to get a bunch of temporary art together for covers and come up with some blurbs for titles...all while trying to finish reviewing the scripts for two other titles and putting together Aoi House In Love! Vol. 2. It's nuts!
Speaking of Aoi House, there have been a couple of questions about the upcoming omnibus collection of the first two volumes that I wanted to address today. So without further ado...
LeonOrcot: "I heard they are going to stop printing Aoi House vol. 1. Is this true??? I still need to buy it. plz get it reprinted!!!!"
Yes, it is true. Aoi House Vol. 1 and 2 are out of print so we can make way for the omnibus edition that hits stores in April. (The same is true of Amazing Agent Luna Volumes 1-3, as we're doing an omnibus collection of those as well.)
Aoi House Omnibus Collection I collects Aoi House Vol. 1 and 2 into one 352-page book for just $10.99. So if you haven't picked up the print edition of Aoi House yet, then there's no better time!
As for reprinting Aoi House Vol. 1... it's highly unlikely that we'll go back and do that at this point. It's very, very expensive to do print editions, and even harder to keep them in print. By doing an omnibus collection of our older material, it makes it easier for us to keep a series in print as we only have to worry about that one book now instead of two or three. Hope you understand!
Tunakid84: "I read that an Aoi House omnibus is coming out. Will the other Aoi Notes be included in it? I like reading the behind the scenes stuff and I can't find the older volumes."
With "Aoi House Omnibus Collection I," we were able to include all of the important story-related extras from Aoi House Vol. 1 and 2, but a couple of the non-essential extras had to be dropped due to space constraints.
Here's what the 352-page omnibus contains:
- all 13 episodes of season one of Aoi House
- the Fruit Cake Fantasy side story (placed between episodes 11 and 12, where it belongs)
- the 10-page "Student Records" character bio section (from Aoi House Vol. 1)
- the 2-page "Fun Zone" section featuring Aoi House membership card, word search, and coloring book page (from Aoi House Vol. 1)
- the 3-page "Lost Scene" that shows Alex discovering an Aoi House secret (from Aoi House Vol. 2)
Things weren't included due to space constraints are the two 4-page "Aoi Notes: Print Edition" sections (from Vol. 1 and 2), a 3-page gallery of Jim Jimenez's original character sketches (from Vol. 1), the fan art section (from Vol. 2). I opted not to include Aoi Notes since they come off as feeling outdated and much of the information has been covered online anyway. So I opted to drop those in favor of keeping the other extras as those do have more of an impact on the story. Plus, I had to leave something in the original single volume editions to make them worth tracking down still! Hee hee.
If you have a question, feel free to drop by the forum and ask away!
See you Friday!
