Episode 6, Page #1 - "Dressing Up"

Aoi Notes: 10/03/2007

I picked up The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass yesterday and haven't been able to put it down since. For a portable game, it's madly addictive. In fact, it takes everything I hated about Wind Waker (i.e. the sailing and anything associated with it) and turned it all around for the better. I'm also amazed at how well the game controls once you get used to the fact that the vast majority of the game is played completly with the stylus. (Though, my left hand is killing me from having to hold the DS all this time... but that's minor.)

One thing I noticed with Minish Cap that I'm noticing here is that while the main story is driven by finishing the temples, the real meat of the game actually comes from exploring all the other areas. And the new "write on the map" feature is really nicely integrated. It's kind of so obvious that you wish they'd let you do this from now on.

No, Phantom Hourglass it's not epically awesome like Twilight Princess, but for a handheld... it's top notch. I really loved playing through Minish Cap, so this has that same 2-D charm to it, but with familiar 3-D graphics. I'd recommend it.

Other than that, not much is new around here. It's I, Otaku month here at Gomanga.com, so I had to get all that stuff together in advance. Hope you guys enjoy that. As for Aoi House, we're kicking off Episode 6 entitled "Midnight Rebirth" today. It takes place at the New Year's dance at Hatsu-Con, so be sure to keep an eye out for all the cosplay to come!

Well, that's a wrap for today. Shiei and I'll see you back here Friday!
